Microsoft has added a free built-in VPN feature to the Edge browser for all users. This helps protect your data when browsing on public WiFi networks at cafes and airports.
The VPN encrypts your internet connection and hides your location from websites. You get 5GB of free VPN data every month included with your browser.
Turning on the VPN is simple with just one click in the browser settings menu. The feature works automatically in the background while you browse normally.
Microsoft promises not to collect your browsing data through the VPN service. This gives users more privacy compared to some free VPN providers.
The VPN feature is rolling out to all Edge users over the next few weeks. Users will see a new shield icon in the toolbar when the feature is available.
