Nintendo has officially announced the Switch 2 will launch on June 5, 2025 worldwide. The new console features a larger 8-inch OLED screen for better portable gaming.
When docked, the Switch 2 supports 4K resolution output on compatible televisions. This brings Nintendo games to Ultra HD quality for the first time officially.
The console is backwards compatible with most original Switch games and accessories. Your existing game library will work on the new system from day one.
A new magnetic Joy-Con attachment system replaces the rail mechanism for easier use. The controllers are slightly larger for improved ergonomics during long play sessions.
The Switch 2 is priced at $449 for the standard edition. Nintendo plans to release several launch titles including new Mario and Zelda games.
